5.3 Research Machines networks

These are a variant on Lan Manager networks, which are similar toWindows networks. To use Network Links with Research Machines networksyou need the Smart Bridge software: contactResearch Machines directly for details.

ARM-side:

You need to specify ISO packets in the !PC.!NetRun file,for example:

  RMEnsure PCNE2 1.83  RMLoad <Diva$Dir>.PCNE2 -pISO

PC-side:

These are normally set up using a special RM network card containing aboot ROM. To work with Network Links you need to boot with anappropriately changed soft-loaded version of this software whichspecifies an NE2000 card.

The PROTOCOL.INI file includes these lines:

[NETBEUI_XIF]BINDINGS = "MS$NE2CLONE"[MS$NE2CLONE]DriverName=MS2000$IOBASE=0x340INTERRUPT=5[RMMACIF_XIF]BINDINGS = "MS$NE2CLONE"

CONFIG.SYS needs to load this driver:

DEVICE=\SYS\NE2000.DOS
