It is certainly possible. Yaffs really does not care where the flash is or how to read it.

FYI: underlying RTOS - FreeRTOS, 128KB of RAM.

Whether or not 128k or RAM is enough will largely depend on how much flash you want to manage as a Yaffs partition, what block size and page size are etc.
